Mathematics in PEGIN language makes learning fun!
I have been translating some of my mathematics videos in English to PEGIN language for the past weeks.
I have been translating some of my mathematics videos in English to PEGIN language for the past weeks.
In fact, still working on it, but I just happen
to hear on the TV yesterday when some football commentators are using PEGIN
language to run a commentaries for the world cup matches.
I was like, "oh boy e" that is oh
really, this is what I've been working on for some time, also wishing some
Nigerians too will do the same in their various field.
Pegin was my success
foundation key to knowing Maths
You won't believe that even the mathematics that
I learnt in those days was thought with a mixture of my own native language
(Yoruba), Pegin and English and that was the major key factor in helping me to
understand mathematics then in Secondary school days.
Interest is what matters
most in learning any subject
At least, it made mathematics interesting, and so
I picked up from there. Some many of us know then how it used to be then, when
you have to first of all interpret something in your language then
translate to English, and vice versa.
Even the elite use Pegin
language to communicate
Anyway, after translating this very one, I fell
in love again for using PEGIN to teach so many Nigerian students who may be
having problem with mathematics but have no one to break it down for them in
the common Lagos street language like Alibaba the comedian on stage. Also, you
need to hear the Governor of Lagos state, His excellence, Babatunde R. Fashola
fluent with Pegin language on TV interviews.
Pegin would help the uneducated
adult become interested in learning
Oh I’m even talking of young people, what of
those adult that don’t understand English well but can flow with PEGIN
language. Of course, many would want to learn but are scared by the use of too
much grammar.
I can only try to translate in PEGIN for
now, but would like to work with more people who can translate to YORUBA, IBO,
HAUSA, or any other language soon.
